Are College Bowl Games Losing Their Edge? Fact-Checking Attendance, Roster Depth, and Tonight's Stakes
Q1: What channel is broadcasting tonight's bowl games?
Most December bowl games air nationally across ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC. You can stream every broadcast through the ESPN app by logging in with a verified television provider or a standalone streaming package such as YouTube TV, Fubo, or Hulu + Live TV.
Q2: Why do point spreads change so dramatically before kickoff?
Oddsmakers adjust betting lines based on breaking personnel news. If a starting quarterback, primary pass rusher, or offensive coordinator announces they are opting out of the game to prepare for the draft or change schools, sportsbooks immediately move the spread by several points to balance risk.
Q3: Does winning a non-playoff bowl help a team's ranking for next year?
Not officially, but perception matters. An impressive bowl showing by an underclassman quarterback often generates offseason hype, influencing voting panels when preseason top 25 polls are published the following August.
