Drive Mad Level 78 Walkthrough: Visual Proof on How to Pass 'Hit a Snag'
Every vehicle in Drive Mad behaves according to basic Newtonian mechanics adapted for web-based voxel engines. The truck featured in Level 78 has a relatively high center of gravity and rigid front springs. When you command forward motion, the virtual drivetrain generates a counter-rotational force around the rear axle.
On flat terrain, this rotational force merely lifts the front bumper slightly. On an incline with a snag point, that small lift becomes fatal. The lip acts as a stationary pivot. Once the front tires lose downward pressure, the engine's torque has no forward escape path. It rotates the entire chassis around the rear wheels like a lever arm.
To bypass this, you must eliminate engine torque right as the vehicle encounters the pivot point. Letting the vehicle roll under its own weight keeps the normal force distributed evenly between the front and rear tires. Without engine torque actively pushing the rear downward, the chassis glides smoothly over the snag without snapping.
