Fact-Checking Bus Travel Policies: Are Liquids, Gels, and Pastes Ever Restricted on Motorcoaches?
Freedom from the TSA 3-1-1 liquids rule makes bus packing straightforward, but smart organization prevents practical travel headaches. Motorcoach cabins have limited overhead shelf depth compared to modern widebody aircraft.
Pack full-size shampoos, bulk sunscreen, and large tubes of toothpaste inside your under-bus checked baggage. Place them inside a zip-top freezer bag or lined toiletry roll to protect clothing from accidental pressure leaks. Keep a small personal toiletry kit in your cabin bag containing only what you need during the trip: a toothbrush, travel toothpaste, hand sanitizer, lip balm, and facial wipes. Bus rest-stop sinks and onboard lavatories feature tiny sink basins, making a standard tube unwieldy during a quick bathroom stop.
