Fact-Checking Kevin Macleod's Career: Is the Iconic Indie Composer Still Active?
Navigating MacLeod's audio library remains straightforward, provided users understand basic copyright mechanics. He does not release everything into pure public domain; the legal framework depends upon Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
If you want to use his music without spending money, place the exact credit formula in your video description, podcast notes, or game credits:
"Title of Track" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
If an automated system flags your upload, do not panic or immediately delete the video. File a standard dispute citing the CC BY license and include the URL to the specific Incompetech track page. In virtually all cases, the automated claimant releases the strike once challenged with legitimate proof of license.
