Fact-Checking the Mia Khalifa Clip: Debunking Rumors Surrounding Deshaun Watson Footage
Social media feeds thrive on outrage and ambiguity. When an aggregator account uploads an indoor basketball clip featuring two globally recognizable figures, leaving out the date is an intentional editorial choice. Ambiguity drives comment volume. Half of the commenters express shock, believing the video was filmed yesterday; the other half scramble to post corrections pointing out that the clip is from 2017.
To platform algorithms, correction comments look identical to high engagement. The post receives a distribution boost, spreading further into recommendations for fans who merely searched for Cleveland Browns box scores or AFC North standings. Watson’s complex past makes viewers predisposed to expect controversy, turning ordinary archival banter into an engine for digital gossip.
