Full vs Partial Snip: Step-by-Step Touch Gestures to Capture Exactly What You Need
When you need precision rather than a blunt full-display grab, the physical button combination falls short. Google integrated the dedicated ChromeOS Screen Capture tool into the operating system interface to handle granular tasks. You access this utility directly from the taskbar shelf at the bottom-right corner of the display.
Tap the system clock area to pull up the Quick Settings panel. Inside the grid of system tiles, alongside Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Nearby Share, tap the tile labeled Screen capture. The system immediately dims the background display and surfaces a floating control bar near the bottom center of the touchscreen. This toolbar gives you immediate toggles between still imagery and video recording, as well as distinct framing options for full-screen shots, targeted rectangular selections, and individual app windows.
