Glen Ellyn News Wire: Wreck Delays, Glenbard Sports & Community Updates
Heavy commuter traffic along the Roosevelt Road corridor ground to a halt following a serious multi-car collision that blocked through-lanes during morning drive-time. The Glen Ellyn Police Department, coordinating alongside DuPage County emergency services, instituted immediate detours near major commercial intersections to divert hundreds of vehicles onto butterfield and St. Charles alternatives.
Tow crews spent more than 90 minutes clearing twisted metal, fluid spills, and damaged utility barriers. Roosevelt Road handles over 30,000 vehicles daily through Glen Ellyn, making any multi-lane blockage an immediate bottleneck for neighboring Wheaton and Lombard. Emergency medical personnel evaluated several motorists on scene, transporting two individuals to nearby medical facilities with non-life-threatening injuries. Local public works teams later inspected traffic signals to ensure timing sensors had not been damaged by the impact.
