How Old Was Sophia Grace in "Girl in the Mirror"? the Complete Career Q&A
Sophia Grace Brownlee was born on April 18, 2003, in Essex, England. The official music video for "Girl in the Mirror" premiered globally on YouTube on June 9, 2016. That places her age at exactly 13 years, 1 month, and 22 days on release day.
Production for the video took place in Los Angeles during late spring 2016. Because principal photography wrapped roughly a month prior to the official premiere, Sophia Grace was either in the final days of being 12 or had just crossed the threshold into 13 during filming. For casual viewers who remembered her exclusively as an eight-year-old singing Nicki Minaj verses on American morning television, the video felt like an overnight shift into adolescence. Her cousin and longtime sidekick Rosie McClelland, who was born in September 2006, made a brief cameo in the visual at nine years old, highlighting the clear shift toward branding Sophia Grace as a standalone solo vocalist.
