Inside Mcdonald's Morning Revamp: What Changed for the 2025 Menu
Few operational choices draw more regular complaints from diners than the hard cutoff on morning service. Despite perennial online calls for the return of round-the-clock items, the latest all-day breakfast update makes corporate priorities unambiguous: broad all-day breakfast is not returning to widespread operation.
The barrier is physical kitchen geometry. Most restaurant back-of-house layouts use a split-grill system. Toasts, English muffins, and biscuits require specific toaster belt settings that differ from bun toasters. Cooking eggs requires surface temperatures around 275°F to 300°F, whereas quarter-pound beef patties demand surface heats exceeding 350°F to 400°F. Running both simultaneously creates severe prep bottlenecks, slows drive-thru times by up to 45 seconds per car, and elevates cross-contact hazards. Consequently, McDonald's breakfast hours remain firmly standardized: service kicks off at 5:00 a.m. (or 5:30 a.m. in select regions) and shuts down promptly at 10:30 a.m. on Monday through Friday, with a slight extension to 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
