Lucy Dacus Tour & Festival Spotlight: from Shaky Knees to Global Stages
Dacus began her touring career playing local Virginia DIY spots and community center stages before releasing No Burden in 2016. Her signing to Matador Records accelerated that trajectory, bringing a level of tour support that shifted her live presence from solo guitar setups to a tight, four-piece band dynamic.
Her sophomore release, Historian, established her ability to fill mid-sized theaters, but the 2021 release of Home Video marked a distinct turning point in her live sound. Live arrangements of tracks like "First Time" and "Brando" took on muscular, guitar-driven dimensions that carried effortlessly through 15,000-capacity festival fields. Stage audio engineers often note the deliberate dynamic range of her shows. Intimate, acoustic storytelling shifts abruptly into walls of distorted overdrive, demanding precise audio mixing that stands apart from heavily pre-recorded pop sets.
