Next Weekend Weather Timeline: Exactly When Temperatures Drop and Rain Begins
Baseball calendars cannot accommodate cancellations during the final week of regular-season play. Every contest carries direct postseason seeding ramifications, making diamond conditions a matter of acute scrutiny.
The Yankees opted to restructure their weekend calendar early, creating schedule flexibility before Friday's opening pitch. That preemptive move averts a nightmare scenario where doubleheaders are crammed into Sunday evening right before wild card series begin on Tuesday.
Further north, the Fenway Park rain forecast introduces broader complications across the league. As reported by The Athletic, potential inclement weekend weather in Boston carries significant ripple effects for National League wild card contenders whose playoff destinies depend on out-of-town results. If Saturday's game in Boston incurs repeated rain delays, bullpen usage changes dramatically. Pitching rotations will be stretched thin just as teams attempt to preserve their aces for sudden-death postseason rounds.
