See It to Believe It: David Boreanaz's First Screen Credit and Early 90S Tv Cameos
Boreanaz’s transition from guest star to leading man kicked off one of the most durable runs in contemporary television history. While many actors struggle to land a second successful pilot, Boreanaz spent more than three straight decades headlining major hour-long dramas without an extended hiatus.
When Angel concluded its five-season run on The WB in 2004, Boreanaz barely paused. In 2005, he signed on opposite Emily Deschanel to play FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth in Fox's Bones. What could have been a standard police procedural ran for twelve seasons and 246 episodes, bolstered by the chemistry between Booth and forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan.
Boreanaz did not just act in Bones; he directed eleven episodes and produced dozens more, learning the intricate logistical machinery of prime-time production budgets and episodic pacing.
Within months of Bones wrapping its finale in 2017, CBS tapped Boreanaz to star as Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes in SEAL Team. The role demanded substantial physical conditioning and a gritty, emotionally fractured acting approach far removed from the romantic banter of Bones or the gothic melodrama of Angel.
Boreanaz guided SEAL Team through a complex platform migration from CBS network television to Paramount+, ultimately concluding the high-octane military drama after seven seasons in late 2024. He served as an executive producer and recurring director throughout the entire production run.
