The Best Drake Maye Memes Ranked: from That Bizarre Fumble to the Viral Tua Stat Comparison
Turnovers are common in the NFL, but Maye's knack for surreal ball security incidents sets him apart. During a critical fourth-quarter drive, Maye tucked the ball to scramble, caught his own cleat on the turf, and managed to swat the football out of his own grasp before defensive contact arrived. The loose ball trickled harmlessly backward as Maye dove past it in slow motion.
Footage of the bizarre fumble spread far beyond typical football circles. Creators stripped the broadcast audio, pairing the slow-motion scramble with vintage circus music, slipping sound effects, and retro video game glitch screens. Patriots fans watched in disbelief as their franchise quarterback trended alongside comical sports bloopers from past decades. The play solidified a recurring trope across social media reaction videos: when Maye scrambles, anything can happen, and rarely is it routine.
