The Farrow Siblings in Archival Photos: Rare Looks at Mia Farrow's Family Lineage
Tragedy struck the family early. Michael Damien Farrow, the eldest son born in 1939, carried the heavy expectations of his father's artistic ambition. In October 1958, while taking flight instruction near Pacoima, California, his plane collided mid-air with another aircraft. Michael was just 19 years old. The sudden death permanently altered the family dynamic, shattering Maureen O'Sullivan and casting a long shadow over his younger siblings.
Patrick Joseph Farrow, the second son, turned away from the studio cameras that surrounded his childhood. He forged a respected career as a fine artist, sculptor, and printmaker. Operating out of Castleton, Vermont, Patrick earned national acclaim for his monumental bronze figures, exhibiting widely across galleries from New York to Montreal. Despite his critical success, emotional distress persisted. In June 2009, Patrick died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside his Vermont gallery at the age of 66. His passing removed another foundational anchor of the original Farrow household.
