Unlocking the True Ending: What the Awoken Dream Nail Actually Reveals in Hollow Knight
Possessing the Void Heart fundamentally rewrites the final battle. As you fight the chained Hollow Knight, Hornet bursts through the door at the halfway mark, driving her needle into the creature’s mask to pin it to the floor. She shouts for you to strike.
Hitting the pinned vessel with a normal Nail triggers the "Sealed Siblings" ending, trapping both you and Hornet inside the monument forever to repeat the failed cycle. But striking the Hollow Knight with the Awoken Dream Nail pulls you directly into the creature’s mindscape. You leap out of the biological chamber and materialize upon platforms hovering in front of The Radiance, the primordial moth deity whose forgotten fury birthed the Infection.
The Radiance is a multi-phase airborne assault utilizing tracking light beams, falling swords, and rising waves of holy fire. It represents the polar opposite of the dark, cavernous horrors fought across Hallownest. Winning this battle requires using the Void itself to drag the moth down from the heavens, extinguishing the light and purging the infection once and for all. Without the Awoken Dream Nail, this encounter does not exist.
