We Tested 100 Strapless Push-up Bras: Real Wear Tests That Defy Gravity Without Slipping
A surprising finding from the 60-tester panel: 72% of participants who complained of perpetual strapless bra slipping were wearing a band size too large and a cup size too small. A 36B wearer who constantly hoisted her bra frequently discovered her true mechanical fit was a 34D or 32DD.
In a strapless configuration, the band must be snug enough to hold firm without relying on shoulder tension. When you try on a bra, fasten it on the loosest hook. It should sit completely parallel to the floor, anchored straight across the mid-back. If the back wing arches upward toward your shoulder blades, the band is too loose, and the front cups will inevitably slide down.
Take advantage of convertible straps during initial fitting. Most quality strapless models include multi-way straps that convert into halter, criss-cross, or single-shoulder setups. Attaching the straps while positioning your tissue into the cups, using a deliberate scoop-and-swoop movement, ensures the underwire settles precisely along the base of your breasts before you detach the straps for strapless wear.
