Who Is Gizem Bağdaçiçek? Age, Career, Controversy, and Legal Status
On the morning of December 7, 2023, detectives assigned to the Istanbul Police Department's Public Security Branch (Asayiş Şube Müdürlüğü) executed an order against Bağdaçiçek. Officers took her into custody and brought her to the Gayrettepe headquarters, the central processing site for major vice and public-order investigations across Istanbul.
The unit leading the inquiry was the Morals Bureau (Ahlak Büro Amirliği), a specialized division charged with investigating sex crimes, unlawful gambling, and digital obscenity. Police acted following formal citizen complaints filed through the Presidential Communication Center (CİMER), where users submitted links to viral explicit footage featuring the influencer.
During her official police interrogation, Bağdaçiçek argued that the leaked recordings originated from a private platform that required explicit user verification and consent. She maintained that she never authorized the materials for open publication, pointing out that unidentified third parties had scraped and leaked her private material without permission. Nevertheless, officers processed her under Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), which penalizes the unauthorized dissemination of obscene content.
