Who Is Norissa Valdez and Why Is Reddit Obsessed? Complete Explainer
High paywalls create an aggressive illicit market. The moment a creator places imagery behind a recurring charge, unauthorized redistributors attempt to scrape and upload it elsewhere. Reddit historically served as a prime destination for this activity.
Valdez’s legal representatives responded with aggressive enforcement strategies. Specialized digital rights agencies utilize hash-matching systems to flag proprietary photos and videos the moment they hit the web. Once submitted through the Digital Millennium Copyright Act framework, administrators issue immediate removal notices.
These actions trigger significant churn on the platform. Several subreddits built around Valdez have been quarantined or banned outright for repeated copyright infringement. Rather than dying out, the conversation typically disperses into private Discord channels or decentralized forums before reconstituting on Reddit under newly created alt-names. It is an endless technological game of whack-a-mole.
