Peer-to-peer money transfers through Apple Cash operate differently than standard store checkouts. Integrated into Apple Messages, this feature lets users send money directly to friends and family. Funding an Apple Cash transfer using a linked debit card or your existing Apple Cash balance is free. You send $40, and the recipient receives $40 instantly.

• Fee: $0 (Free) • Fee: 1.5% ($0.25 min / $15 max)

• Rail: ACH Network • Rail: Visa/Mastercard Debit

• Settlement: 1, 3 Business Days • Settlement: Under 30 Minutes

The fees appear when moving money out of Apple Cash and into your personal bank account. Apple offers two distinct paths for cashing out:

  1. Standard ACH Transfer: Free of charge. Funds move across the traditional Automated Clearing House network. It takes 1, 3 business days to arrive in your checking or savings account. For routine withdrawals, ACH bank transfer fees remain at exactly $0.00.
  2. Instant Transfer: Carries a mandatory fee. If you need money deposited to an eligible debit card within minutes, Apple assesses an Apple Cash instant transfer fee of 1.5%. This fee features a strict floor of $0.25 and a ceiling of $15.00.

If you push $10 out via instant transfer, the 1.5% calculation ($0.15) falls below the minimum, meaning you pay $0.25. If you transfer $1,000, the fee hits the standard 1.5% mark ($15.00). Anything above $1,000 caps out at the $15.00 maximum. Green Dot Bank, which manages the backend banking services for Apple Cash, deducts this amount directly from the transfer balance before settling the funds.
