Nina the Starry Bride Season 2 Timeline: from Season Finale to Expected Renewal Announcements
A frequent bottleneck for anime sequels is an exhausted manuscript supply. That obstacle does not exist here. Rikachi began serializing Hoshifuru Oukoku no Nina in Kodansha's josei/shojo magazine Be Love in October 2019, earning the 46th Kodansha Manga Award in the shojo category along the way. By the time the television adaptation wrapped its initial run, Kodansha had published 14 compiled volumes in Japan.
The first season covered roughly the opening 22 to 25 chapters, taking the audience through the end of Volume 5 and the early transitional events of Volume 6. This deliberate adaptation pace, approximately one manga volume every two to three episodes, gave the characters space to breathe, avoiding the chaotic rush that ruins so many palace intrigues. As a result, at least eight volumes of unadapted material remain untouched. Rikachi's story continues to publish at a steady rate of two to three compiled volumes annually, ensuring the animation team will have ample runway to adapt another 12-episode cour without fear of overtaking the printed page.
